Even though they're all glammed up, I think you'll be surprised that the American Idol contestants are still under the 'struggling artists' category earning only $30 a day as food allowance and $500 for clothes. As they reach the final 12 of the competition, the get a real paycheck of up to $1500. The winner is rumored to have a six-figure paycheck. Hello David Cook?
I just saw the replay of the Motown Night Performances. Some are just blah and some did surprise me:
Michael: The most difficult thing for a contestant is to realize that Simon Cowell does make a point. He doesn't belong in the competition because he just lacks that star power. Good performance though.
Megan: When the video was being played, she looked so damn confident that she's gonna get through. Unfortunately, I think she got too excited - or complacent maybe - that she totally effed up her performance. Nice outfit though.
Lil Rounds: Another Jennifer Hudson like performer who has an incredible voice but the song choice this week was less than perfect. Again, the outfit compensated for the so-so performance. At least her star isn't fading just yet.
Danny Gokey: I've heard the stories - even the sob stories about Danny Gokey. Yes, he can definitely sing. Yes, he can pull off a good performance. But sorry I don't think he's an American Idol. He does remind me of Taylor Hicks and that's REALLY baaad. One word:
overrated.
Anoop Dogg: Well who says Indians cannot sing? Move over Sanjaya. Anoop is ready to conquer the stage. The performance was a bit boring I have to say but his voice was amazing. Maybe it's time for an American-Asian Idol. Who knows - I think it's the year of the Indians!
Adam Lambert: Once in while, someone comes along who would surprise you. Last week, it was Adam who conspicuously lost his eyeliners and nail polish. EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE!
